About me
Hello! Let me tell you a bit about myself…
I’m a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist.
I’ve studied and worked in the psychology / “mental health” space since 2008. Before I became a fully qualified therapist, I worked in various roles that introduced me to the broad diversity of the human species, such as young person’s autism mentor, community outreach specialist mental health support worker, service co-ordinator for elderly care, and specialist autism practitioner. I graduated from my DipCBT programme in 2015, and since then I’ve been working therapeutically with adults and young people experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, from anxiety and depression through to trauma, OCD, and more complex presentations.
Although CBT forms the foundation of my practice, my approach has evolved over time. I now work in a more integrative way, drawing on CBT, EMDR, and other evidence-informed approaches to meet the needs of the individual rather than asking people to fit into a particular therapy model. I most commonly work with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, low self-esteem and difficulties related to ADHD and autism.
I am particularly passionate about helping people make sense of their experiences. Many clients come to therapy feeling confused, overwhelmed, frustrated with themselves, or unsure why they keep finding themselves stuck in the same patterns. I enjoy helping people to develop a deeper understanding of their difficulties and identify meaningful ways forward. I constantly learn from my clients, and my practice evolves the more I am educated by the lived experience that clients generously share with me.
Alongside my clinical work, I have a longstanding interest in neurodiversity and currently contribute to the BABCP Neurodiversity Special Interest Group, supporting wider conversations about how psychological therapies can better meet the needs of autistic and ADHD individuals in particular.
I live in a hypermobile body and understand the range of challenges this can bring. I have a particular interest in hypermobility spectrum conditions and their frequent co-occurrence with neurodivergence and related health issues. This can include a range of overlapping physical and psychological experiences that are often interconnected rather than separate. My awareness of these patterns supports my ability to understand, work with, and signpost clients who may be navigating similar presentations.
Overall, I aim to offer a thoughtful, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where people feel understood, make sense of what has been happening for them, and are supported in moving towards meaningful and lasting change.
